DJ Seko

Artist Profile:

DJ Seko started listening to hip hop at a younger age. He was a fan of different artist's uniqueness and style. By watching "Wild Style", he realized that there was more to hip hop than just music, but rather a whole culture made up of four primary elements. DJing was the one that captivated him, because he has always loved music and playing around with various sounds. As time passed, DJs such as Roc Raida, Revolution and Spinbad helped inspire and push him to develop his own skills and sound. DJ Seko has helped set off the party for acts such as Raekwon, Common, The Roots, Lupe Fiasco, The Beatnuts and Tha Alkaholiks, to name a few. Understanding the importance of independent media and giving back to the community, Seko took part of a underground hip hop mixed show called The Urban Renewal Project on CFRO 102.7fm. In addition, to Djing on the radio, he has also played at hot clubs throughout Western Canada. Seko has also kept it hot in the streets by putting out series of mix tapes, which have featured him collaborating with some of Vancouver's finest independent artists like AMP, Usual Suspects, Illa Brown, POS and Jay Kin.
